Students of the Transport Construction Faculty visited the International Forum of the Road Industry AVTODOREXPO

From November 7 to November 9, the 16th International Forum on the Construction, Operation and Design of Highways and Bridges AVTODOREXPO is held in Kiev. CERES project participants with senior students visited this event. Our students were able to get information about new technologies and communicate with the best experts of the road business, embodying fundamental reforms, introduce modern standards for the design and construction of roads. The visit to the exhibition was another step in bringing science and education closer to the modern requirements of road production enterprises.

Publication of the results of joint research activities of young NMAU researchers and industrial partner LLC Metallurgical Plant «Dniprostal»

In October 2018 the CERES-managers of the Youth Information Center (established in frames of the Joint European Tempus project «Centers of Excellence for young RESearchers» (CERES) 544137-TEMPUS-1-2013-1-SK-TEMPUS- JPHES) of the National Metallurgical Academy of Ukraine together with the industrial partner LLC Metallurgical Plant “Dniprostal” published the article «Situational Model of Technological Operations for Secondary Metallurgy» in the scientific Polish journal Journal of Achievements in Materials and Manufacturing Engineering. The article is devoted to the development of rational energy-technological regimes of the out-of-furnace steel processing. The article summarizes the results of joint research of young NMAU researches and the industrial partner LLC Metallurgical Plant «Dniprostal».

The CERES-managers of NMAU Assoc. Prof. Oleksandr Zhadanos and Assoc. Prof. Igor Derevyanko, Prof. Oleg Kukushkin and representative of the enterprise LLC Metallurgical Plant «Dniprostal» young researcher Dmitry Chaika were the authors of this article.

The scientific article was prepared with the technical and advisory assistance provided by the Youth Information Center (YIC).

Reference: The Polish scientific journal Journal of Achievements in Materials and Manufacturing Engineering was created in 2006. It is the successor to the journal Proceedings on Achievements in Mechanical and Materials Engineering that was during 1992-2005. The journal is indexed in such scientific-metric bases as Scopus and Index Copernicus.

Opening of the Educational Center of Road Machines, created jointly by the National Transport University and Zeppelin-Caterpillar

On October 8, 2018, the National Education and Research Center of Road Machines was opened at the National Transport University. It was created jointly by the National Transport University and Zeppelin-Caterpillar.

The main purpose of the Educational and Scientific Center is to increase the educational and scientific level and the quality of university students’ training. The purpose of its creation is to provide the modern European level of specialists training for  the transport complex  enterprises and exploitation, testing and service of road construction machinery organizations

Structural changes in the National Transport University concerning the organization of scientific research at NTU

The bilateral Ukrainian-German project «Development and dissemination of the concept of promoting the integration of science, education and innovation in the National Transport University» was completed in support of and implementation of the CERES project at the National Transport University, which is carried out jointly with the University of Paderborn (Germany).

As part of this project, taking into account the experience of organizing scientific work at the University of Paderborn, the National Transport University conducts structural changes in the field of scientific activities, including young researchers.

At this stage, a general concept has been developed. This conception contains information on tasks, target groups, organizational integration, personnel requirements, technical requirements, and implemented activities. Structural changes concern the creation of a research council, the organization of a research support center, the expansion of the functions of a technology transfer center, innovation activity and intellectual property.

Seminar-training «Seven steps to participate in the program» Horizon 2020 «in NTU

September 13, 2018 in the meeting room of the National Transport University held a seminar-training «Seven steps to participate in the program» Horizon 2020 «for university students who speak foreign languages. Program CERES participants presented information on the opportunities and prospects for the young researchers participation in international cooperation programs.13-сентября-2018

Participation of the representatives of the Youth Information Center at the international conference AdMet-2018 (Advanced Metallurgy-2018)

The 3rd International Conference AdMet-2018 (Advanced Metallurgy — 2018) was held in Lviv on June 11th – 13th, 2018. More than 60 participants from 12 countries took part in the conference, namely, from the USA, Sweden, Japan, South Korea, South Africa, Australia, Austria, Poland, India, Iran, Germany, Belgium. The largest delegation was from Japan and included 9 scientists including well-known scholars of modern metallurgy Prof. Fumitaka Tsukihashi (Tokyo University), Prof. Shin-i-Kitamura (Tohoku University) and Prof. Rio Inoue (Akita University).

Representatives of the Youth Information Center (established in frames of the Joint European Tempus project «Centers of Excellence for young RESearchers» (CERES) 544137-TEMPUS-1-2013-1-SK-TEMPUS-JPHES) delivered the report «Situational Model of Technological Operations for Secondary Metallurgy» on the development of the rational energy-technological regimes for the out-of-furnace processing of steel. The report was devoted to the summarized results of the joint research activities of the young researchers from NMAU and industrial partner LLC Metallurgical Plant Dniprostal (one of the main industrial partners of the National Metallurgical Academy of Ukraine).

Young researches (CERES-managers) of the National Metallurgical Academy of Ukraine Assoc. Prof. Oleksandr Zhadanos and Assoc. Prof. Igor Derevyanko, Prof. Oleg Kukushkin and the representative of the LLC Metallurgical Plant «Dniprostal» Mr. Dmitro Chaika were the authors of this report.

The scientific report was prepared with the technical and advisory assistance provided by the Youth Information Center (YIC).

The report has got a great interest from the participants of the conference. Taking advantage of this opportunity, the representatives of YIC organized the blitz-meeting with young researchers participating in the conference where they talked about the main directions of activities and performance of the YIC center.

Meeting of the representatives of the Youth Information Center with young researchers from Tohoku University (Japan)

During June 7th and 8th 2018 the CERES-managers of the Youth Information Center (created within the framework of the Joint European Tempus project «Centers of Excellence for young RESearchers» (CERES) 544137-TEMPUS-1-2013-1-SK-TEMPUS-JPHES) Assoc. Prof. Oleksandr Zhadanos, Assoc. Prof. Andriy Koverya and Assoc. Prof. Maxym Boyko held an international meeting with the official delegation of the Tohoku University (Japan). The meeting took place in the room 324.

Tohoku University was represented by Prof.Shin-ya Kitamura and young researchers Xu Gao, Shigeru Ueda, Lichun Zheng.

During the meeting the CERES-managers of the Youth Information Center informed Japanese guests on the results of the European Tempus project «Centers of Excellence for young RESearchers» at the National Metallurgical Academy of Ukraine, namely:

  1. activities of the Youth Information Center;
  2. establishment of cooperation with industrial enterprises;
  3. scientific developments of young researchers at NMAU.

The Japanese delegation was interested in the experience of the Youth Information Center in organization of cooperation with industrial enterprises and support of the research activities of young researchers at NMAU.

As a result of the discussions on the prospects of cooperation between young researchers of the National Metallurgical Academy of Ukraine and young researchers of the Tohoku University an agreement was reached on the joint interdisciplinary research and dissemination of the results of CERES project among other Japanese universities.

Meeting of the Department Section «Software Tools» of the annual scientific conference «Week of Science»

On April 20, 2018, at the Department of Software Tools of the ZNTU, a meeting of the Department Section «Software Tools» of the annual scientific conference «Week of Science» was held. It was supported by international projects of Erasmus + BIOART, ALIOT and Tempus-CERES. Teachers and students submitted a record number of abstracts — more than 70. At the session of the section speakers presented interesting reports on research and engineering developments of the department. According to the results of the section, the best reports were noted. The representative of the department Real IT School Y. Oliynyk awarded the authors of the best reports with certificates for 500 hryvnias. Such support has become traditional. Students of the ZNTU Software Department are the only ones in the University, which according to the results of the conference receive awards from the sponsors.
